Seven meetings are scheduled to take place across Britain and Ireland on Tuesday, with three afternoon cards on the level before two jumps and two Flat meetings through the evening.
Racing Post tipster Marcus Buckland has provided three recommendations for the day’s action, with two selections from Leicester and one from Dundalk.
15:40 Leicester - Hatamoto @ 2/1
16:40 Leicester - Frantic @ 9/4
17:42 Dundalk - Nautic Star @ 6/1
15:40 Leicester - Hatamoto @ 2/1
The Tim Easterby-trained Hatamoto ran a solid race in defeat over a mile on soft ground at Carlisle on his handicap debut last week and has strong claims of bettering that off the same mark.
The selection hinted at ability in three runs in novice/maiden company, most noticeably when finishing fifth of 12 behind subsequent Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes winner Lifeplan over 6f at Thirsk last July.
Strong in the market off an opening official mark of only 55 at the Cumbrian venue, he beat all bar the vastly more experienced Mereside Princess, producing a career-best Racing Post Rating of 58 in the process.
This quicker surface will suit, as should a stiff 7f.
16:40 Leicester - Frantic @ 9/4
Ed Walker and Kieran Shoemark, who landed a landmark Group 1 success with Almaqam in Ireland on Sunday, can get on the scoresheet at Leicester courtesy of handicap debutante, Frantic.
The daughter of Frankel was beaten a short-head over this course and distance on her introduction in October and ran to an improved Racing Post Rating of 75 when runner-up at Nottingham on her seasonal return in April.
A non-stayer over 7f at Southwell in between, this looks an outstanding opportunity for the three-year-old filly off an opening official mark of only 70.
17:42 Dundalk - Nautic Star @ 6/1
Fitness has to be taken on trust for the Jessica Harrington-trained Nautic Star on her first run in 258 days, but it’s a chance worth taking judged on the form the daughter of Sioux Nation showed on her debut.
The filly finished a creditable fifth of 10 over 7f at The Curragh behind Aidan O’Brien’s Diamond Necklace last August, the winner now unbeaten in four starts and twice successful at the highest level.
The selection was well below that level when a beaten favourite on her only other outing at Cork in September, but that was on soft ground and her subsequent absence suggests she might have had something go amiss on that occasion.
Jamestown and Rayzera warrant respect, but they’re both vulnerable to anything above average at this level.
