Royal Ascot leading trainer

After Paddington's win on the opening day of Royal Ascot 2023, Irishman Aidan O'Brien became the most successful trainer in Royal Ascot history. He has trained a record 91 Royal Ascot winners and has been crowned leading trainer at the meeting 13 times.

The Ballydoyle supremo is the dominant modern force and holds records in races like the Gold Cup (nine wins), the Coventry Stakes (10 wins) and the St James' Palace Stakes (nine wins).

Sir Michael Stoute is one behind on 82 winners, with Dream Of Dreams' win in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes in 2021 his last success. He had overtaken the previous record of 75 winners, set by the late Sir Henry Cecil.

The likes of John & Thady Gosden, William Haggas, Charlie Appleby and Stoute are proven winners at this meeting too, but the sheer strength and depth of O'Brien's team make him the man to beat.

Royal Ascot leading jockey

The late, great Lester Piggott is by far and away the most successful jockey at Royal Ascot, racking up a total of 116 winners including a record-breaking 11 Ascot Gold Cup triumphs.

Ryan Moore's impressive record of 92 winners at the meeting means he will have his sights on breaking Piggott's record before he retires.

Frankie Dettori's career total of 81 Royal Ascot winners puts him third-best, with the iconic rider finishing his Royal Ascot career in 2023.
