The Commonwealth Cup and Coronation Stakes are the feature races on another high-quality seven-race card on day four of Royal Ascot on Friday.
Racing Post tipster Robbie Wilders has provided his three best bets for the fourth day at Royal Ascot.
14:30 Royal Ascot - Jolivette @ 10/1
15:40 Royal Ascot - Hopewell Rock @ 9/2
17:00 Royal Ascot - Quiet Mutiny @ 14/1
14:30 Royal Ascot - Jolivette @ 10/1
It is no surprise to see the Aidan O’Brien-trained Sun Goddess available at a short price in the Albany Stakes as the stable have already won big sprints with Great Barrier Reef, Mission Central and Victorious this week.
However, her form doesn’t entitle her to be backable at skimpy odds and preference is for the superbly bred Jolivette against her.
Jolivette is a Wootton Bassett half-sister to her team’s Jonquil, a Listed winner at this track last month, and she made the perfect start to her career with a snug victory in a 6f novice at Newmarket.
That race was won by future 1,000 Guineas winners Cachet and Mawj in recent seasons and the time was strong.
Andrew Balding would have left plenty to work on and the yard won the Albany in 2021 with a once-raced filly. From stall nine, Colin Keane will have options and a bold bid is expected.
15:40 Royal Ascot - Hopewell Rock @ 9/2
If you were on Hopewell Rock ante-post for the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes, you’d have been delighted with the outcome of Tuesday’s Copper Horse Stakes. He rates a strong fancy to go two places better from his promising reappearance at Newmarket.
That looked a hot race beforehand and the first two proved the point by fighting out the finish to the Copper Horse.
Hopewell Rock mounted his challenge away from those prominently ridden rivals at Newmarket and made up good ground from off the pace.
Wathnan Racing have bought into him since then and James Doyle has shunned their similarly promising four-year-old Opportunity to ride him.
The son of New Bay, who sired two winners from just five runners on the first two days of the meeting, looks well ahead of the handicapper from an unchanged mark and should come forward for that comeback on his ideal ground conditions.
17:00 Royal Ascot - Quiet Mutiny @ 14/1
The excellent Gavin Cromwell’s sole runner so far this week ran a big race to finish fifth in a red-hot Duke of Cambridge and Quiet Mutiny, his only other entry across the five days, is worth a look in the Sandringham.
Quiet Mutiny justified favouritism to beat the brilliant Precise on her debut at Fairyhouse last July and the runner-up is odds-on for the Coronation Stakes on this card.
This daughter of Starman isn’t exactly bred for this test and began her season in the Polonia Stakes at Cork over five and a half furlongs, plugging on for second in the manner of one who needed further.
She was then stepped up to 7f for her handicap debut at the Curragh and ran a promising race when a close fourth. That form was franked by the seventh winning next time, while two others in behind have run above themselves in defeat since.
Faster conditions will surely suit and, if she stays, she should be bang there if the stands’ side is the place to be.
