I just have to give ALTA REGINA, a juvenile I was looking forward to seeing at Royal Ascot, another chance in the Princess Margaret Japan Cup Stakes.
She is bred to be sharp and made an impressive winning debut at Lingfield in May, travelling strongly and asserting well in the final furlong to win by four and a quarter lengths. She clocked a useful time, too, despite being eased towards the finish.
She was a strong fancy of mine for the Queen Mary and ran pretty well to finish sixth, doing good work late on while also looking as though she'd benefit from the experience.
The form of that race has already started to work out, with the second and fifth winning good races since.
Alta Regina's last furlong was also her best on her debut, so there is every chance she will relish this step up to six furlongs, and the returning Jamie Spencer, who was on board first time out, is a positive booking.

Extremely Zain is very short for the International Handicap and I’d rather take him on with another progressive three-year-old in the form of AMAZING JOURNEY, who may have even more to give now back over 7f.
That may seem like an odd thing to say given he has form figures of 4113121 over 6f compared with 507 over 7f, but those efforts don't tell the whole story.
Amazing Journey stayed on strongly for fifth in a 7f nursery at Glorious Goodwood last year having had a troubled passage, and then suffered even more trouble in running at York in his next race. He was even noted staying on off a slow pace back at Goodwood last October.
He was gelded after that effort and has not looked back, following his third behind the improving Jazl (now 13lb higher) with two wins and a second, most recently when running away with a 6f handicap at Ascot this month.
Amazing Journey could hardly have been more impressive that day, travelling well before quickening up nicely and going clear late on in the manner of one with so much more to offer.
He's due an 8lb rise but gets in under a 3lb penalty, so he's officially 5lb well in, and his proven ability at the track just adds fuel to the enthusiasm. He's a big player off a low weight.

I've had GETREADYTORUMBLE earmarked for a good sprint this year and it's getting to the point at which I'm close to labelling him the unluckiest horse of the season.
He was a huge eyecatcher on his reappearance at Naas, where he was repeatedly denied a clear run before being forced to challenge away from the favoured side of the track but was beaten just a length and a half by Mission Central, who franked the form considerably when landing the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Getreadytorumble was then caught out on the wing with no cover from a poor draw in stall one in the Temple Stakes at Haydock before landing the same stall in the King Charles III Stakes where he reared as the stalls opened and was slowly away as a result.
I thought he could take advantage of the drop into Group 3 company at Sandown last time but was dropped in towards the rear and turned out to be poorly positioned given how the race unfolded.
He was progressive last year, is a lot better than he's been able to show this year and is worth another chance to show it now back into handicap company, with the return of Tom Marquand for the first time since his reappearance a big positive.
