Hearts took a giant stride towards the Scottish Premiership title as they came from behind to conquer Rangers 2-1 at Tynecastle last week, but Celtic have since bridged the gap after Derek McInnes' side dropped points against Motherwell.
Dujon Sterling had put the Gers ahead but second half goals from Stephen Kingsley and Lawrence Shankland saw Derek McInnes' side open up a three-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
That three-point lead, however, lasted no longer than a week. Hearts went behind against Motherwell, but Scottish frontman Shankland got his side back to level terms with an emphatic volley.
The visitors probed in the second half but were ultimately unable to clinch a second, creating a void for Celtic to minimise the gap at the top when they welcomed Glasgow rivals Rangers on Sunday afternoon.
They too fell behind, but an emphatic response saw Martin O'Neill's emerge victorious in relatively comfortable 3-1 fashion, courtesy of a first half equaliser from Yang Hyun-jun and a second half brace from Daizen Maeda.
Make no mistake about it, the Scottish Premiership title is still in the hands of Hearts; if they clinch maximum points from their final two games, then they are champions for the first time since 1960.
But, it's easier said than done. If both Hearts and Celtic emerge victorious in midweek, the penultimate gameweek of the season, then the title will be decided when McInnes' side travel to Celtic Park on the final day.
This weekend's series of events has seen Hearts' Scottish Premiership title odds drift from 8/11 to 11/10, perhaps reflective of the fact that the Hoops will have home advantage in what could prove to be the title decider on Saturday 16th May.
