Harry Kane has committed his long-term future to Bayern Munich by agreeing a new deal in principle with the German champions until the summer of 2029.
The England captain has been a revelation in Bavaria, netting an absurd 154 goals in 156 matches since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 and winning two Bundesliga titles, two German Super Cups and the DFB Pokal.
Kane reached the landmark figure of 100 Bundesliga goals last month and achieved the feat in just 98 matches, obliterating the previous record of 129 appearances to achieve a century of goals in Germany's top-flight, which was set by FC Köln's Dieter Müller in 1977.
His remarkable goalscoring record has seen the 33-year-old win the European Golden Shoe twice in the last three years, while the Bundesliga Golden Boot has belonged to him since he arrived in Munich.
Questions have surfaced concerning what life might look like for England once Kane decides to hang up his boots, but Bayern's commitment to another three years indicates the striker has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
The previous campaign was a staggering one on a personal level for Kane as he scored 73 goals for club and country, of which six he netted at the World Cup with England. His presence might not have yielded UEFA Champions League honours for Bayern, nor did it inspire England to World Cup glory - many might blame Thomas Tuchel for that - and yet it's hard to suggest any player in the world enjoyed a better individual year than Kane.
He continues to rewrite the record books, and while he will happily bask in the warmth of individual accolades, Kane wants a UEFA Champions League winners medal above all else.
Before then is the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony at the London Palladium. Kane edges favouritism over Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal; will the Bayern talisman be the first Englishman in 25 years to win the coveted prize?
Kane told Marca: "I've never liked to talk about myself too much. The only thing I would say is that last season was incredible, on a personal level and as a team. It was, by far, the best season of my life.
"It's true that to finish on 73 goals, the second-highest tally in history, speaks for itself. I'm extremely proud of that. I can only thank my teammates and everyone who has helped me to make that possible.
"But the Ballon d'Or is not in my hands. It depends on the people that vote. From my point of view, last season is in the past. I'm now focused on this one and I'm eager to see what else I can achieve.
"I know that people are going to speak a lot about the Ballon d'Or until October, because it's a big award."
Kane is the odds-on favourite to land a fourth consecutive Bundesliga Golden Boot at the end of the current campaign, even if he trails the league's top goalscorer Patrik Schick by two goals in the standings.
In the UEFA Champions League, Kane has reached double figures in the previous two seasons but fell short of winning the Golden Boot on both occasions, missing out to Serhou Guirassy and Raphinha in 2024/25 and Kylian Mbappe last season. Kane shared the award with Mbappe in 2023/24 with eight goals, but he will be eager to win it alone at the end of the current campaign and he is second favourite behind Manchester City's Erling Haaland to finish top of the goalscorer standings in Europe's elite club competition.
