Hamzah Sheeraz's upcoming clash with Christian Mbilli is set to be for the recently-vacated WBC Super-middleweight title.
On Tuesday the World Boxing Council stripped Terence Crawford of the title he won by defeating Canelo Alvarez in September due to unpaid sanctioning fees.
In a press release the sanctioning body claimed that Crawford had failed to pay the 0.6% sanction fee for the bout, and that neither he or his team had responded to multiple attempts at communication.
With their 168 lb title now vacant, the WBC have officially ordered that the belt will be on the line in the slated upcoming showdown between Sheeraz and Mbilli.
Guatemalan contender Lester Martinez has been named as the mandatory challenger.
Sheeraz has amassed an undefeated professional record of 22 wins and one draw since making his professional debut in September 2017.
The Slough-born fighter is promoted by Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions and most recently scored a fifth-round knockout of Edgar Berlanga in a career-best performance at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York.
The 26-year-old's only other shot at a world title came in February when he battled Carlos Adames to a draw for the WBC middleweight title.
Mbilli also sports an undefeated record, with 24 of his 29 wins coming inside the distance.
