Germany odds to win the World Cup

Germany are seeking a fifth World Cup honour after back-to-back group stage exits.

Germany's record at major tournaments has been dismal in more recent years, failing to surpass the quarter-finals of both the World Cup and European Championship since crashing out of the Euros at the semi-final stage to France in 2016.

Hansi Flick's side finished third in a group alongside Japan, Spain and Costa Rica in the 2022 World Cup, while the prior 2018 tournament saw Germany sink to the bottom of the group, bettered by South Korea, Mexico and Sweden in the standings.

While Germany are by no means back to their 1954, 1974, 1990 or 2014 best, highly-rated manager Julian Nagelsmann has a strong squad at his disposal and it'd be naive to rule them out entirely.

World Cup

With three teams going through in eight of the 12 groups at the World Cup, it'd be a surprise to see Germany eliminated in the group stage for a third consecutive campaign, even more so when taking into account their Group E opponents.

World Cup debutants Curacao should prove no threat for Nagelsmann's side, and Germany are likely to prove far too god for Ecuador, who have never surpassed the round of 16, and Ivory Coast, who are playing at just their second World Cup.

Germany will take nothing for granted after back-to-back World Cup woes, but their 2/7 price to win the group reflects how they are expected to dominate.

Should the four-time winners top the group, third place in group A, B, C, D or F awaits them in Foxborough, a contest that they're also expected to come through. From then on, they could enter every game as the narrow favourites or even odds-against, and Nagelsmann may have to call upon his leading players.

Florian Wirtz, who endured a difficult debut campaign with 20-time top-flight winners Liverpool, rarely fails to disappoint at the international stage, and he's priced at 20/1 to record the most assists at the 2026 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Premier League champion Kai Havertz is given odds of 22/1 to top the goalscoring charts, having found the net on two occasions in the 2022 World Cup.
