Frank Warren has confirmed that there is an agreement in place for the trilogy between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
Just a day after Turki Alalshikh teased Tyson Fury’s return, the Gypsy King himself took to Instagram to confirm the date and venue for Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 3.
In the past week, however, little talk has emerged from the Ukrainian’s camp, though that’s unsurprising given Usyk takes on Daniel Dubois in an undisputed heavyweight title affair at Wembley Stadium in less than two weeks.
Queensberry Promotions founder Frank Warren, also the promoter of Fury, spoke about the proposed trilogy between Fury and Usyk.
“Tyson was out in Turkey for a fight out there. Anyway, some calls took place and there’s an agreement made.
There’s an agreement made. That’s all I can tell you at the moment.
- Frank Warren (Queensbury Promotions)
“He had retired up until he said he’s coming back. If that’s how he feels in the moment, that’s how he feels.
“We’ll see what happens. He feels he wants to fight Usyk again but like I’ve said, we’ve got a show on 19th July at Wembley with Daniel Dubois and I believe Daniel will beat him (Usyk).
“But it’d still be a good fight, Tyson and Usyk.
“He certainly believes he won the last fight and they were very, very close fights. They were good fights to watch, whether you like Tyson or you like Usyk. I thought he (Fury) did enough to win it.
“He feels, if the fight happens again, he can reverse the official decisions.”
While the Gypsy King and Saudi supremo Turki Alalshikh are seemingly in agreement over the 36 year old’s return to boxing, it seems promoter Warren is first and foremost backing his man DDD when he faces Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight belts.
