Thailand v Kuwait Prediction: 7/4 hosts can extend winning run

Thailand take on Kuwait on Friday evening in the first of two international friendlies ahead of this summer’s ASEAN Championship.

The War Elephants face the Blue Wave at the True BG Stadium in Thanyaburi, Pathum Thani, before meeting China on Tuesday.

Thailand, who failed to qualify for the World Cup after being knocked out of the AFC Second Round having finished third in Group C, are now gearing up for the ASEAN Championship which will take place this July and August.

Kuwait, meanwhile, did reach the Third Round of World Cup qualifying but finished bottom of Group B and must now wait until January 2027 for their next competitive action when they will play in the AFC Asian Cup.

The War Elephants have been convincing, with a 6-1 victory over Chinese Tapei and a 4-0 defeat of Sri Lanka among the highlights.

Thailand’s only defeat in that time came against Iraq in the Kings Cup and so Anthony Hudson and his side will be confident of extending their winning run against Kuwait.

The Blue Wave have managed just two wins since the end of 2024, although those victories did come last November.

While Kuwait may be struggling for wins, Helio Sousa’s men are scoring goals, finding the net in their last six matches which included getting on the scoresheet against Egypt.

Thailand have found scoring easy to come by and swiftly got over their World Cup disappointment to earn wins over Fiji and Turkmenistan in the last year.

Kuwait are also among the goals lately and so there should be plenty of action at both ends of the pitch.

As this is a friendly fixture, the pressure will be off the two sides and so both sets of players might be able to put on a show in front of goal.
