Real Madrid v Sevilla Prediction: 9/4 Mbappe can send Madrid to victory

Jose Mourinho saw his Real Madrid side score three late goals in midweek to avoid a UEFA Champions League defeat against former club Roma.

Los Blancos have lost two of their last five La Liga games and trail leaders Barcelona by nine points after the Catalans won at Real Betis on Saturday.

With El Clasico looming on the horizon next weekend, Real Madrid cannot afford a slip when Sevilla come to the capital on Sunday.

Real Madrid v Sevilla

Real Madrid v Sevilla Prediction

Best Bet: Real Madrid to win & both teams to score @ 8/5

Real Madrid have won six of their eight La Liga games but a shock loss at Real Betis and a Madrid derby defeat against Atletico before the international break means they are very much playing catch-up against a Barcelona side with nine wins from nine.

The Spanish giants meet next weekend and Mourinho will know that his side must not slip up here. Sevilla are welcome visitors in that scenario. They last won a La Liga game at Real Madrid in 2008 and have lost 13 of the last 15 meetings.

They are just one spot behind Real Madrid in fifth but have won just four of eight games thus far. They lost 3-1 at home to Barca before the break and shared six goals with Levante on Monday. They also found the net in defeat to Atletico in September and a similar outcome is forecast now.

Both teams have scored in five of Sevilla's last seven trips to face Los Blancos, and with the hosts managing just one shutout in six games, a high-scoring Madrid win is on the cards.

Alternative Bet: Kylian Mbappe to score first @ 9/4

Kylian Mbappe has scored first in three of Real Madrid's last five home games. The French ace has 11 goals in 11 games for the club this season, including a hat-trick here in the August win against Real Sociedad.

Mbappe has three goals in four previous La Liga appearances against Sevilla. With fellow forward Vinicius Jr suspended after his red card against Villarreal last weekend, the 27-year-old will have even more burden of responsibility on his shoulders and he can open the scoring.

Madrid have no wiggle room ahead of facing leaders Barcelona next weekend and Sevilla's poor record in this fixture points to a home victory.

Mbappe is a leading candidate for opening the scoring but Jude Bellingham is worth including as an option too. He netted first against Malaga in a 4-0 win here earlier this season and has six goals for club and country already.

Sevilla will get their chances to attack based on Real Madrid's recent form. Robbie Ure got off the mark for his new club with a goal against Levante and the Scot should retain his place. He had a game-high five shots in that high-scoring draw and can fire at least two at goal here.

It will be a workout for the Sevilla players and having combined for eight fouls in the draw with Levante, Juan Iglesias and Lucien Agoume could be in more trouble now.

Arda Guler should come in for Vinicius Jr on Madrid's left and he could draw more than one foul from Iglesias.
