Newcastle United v Hull City Prediction: 13/10 Tigers fancied to extend fine start

Hull City's stunning start to life back in the Premier League can continue when they take on a Newcastle United side smarting from a heavy defeat at Leeds United on Monday.

The Tigers are sitting up in fourth after securing wins over Manchester United and Coventry City and draws against Aston Villa and Chelsea in the first month.

Sergej Jakirovic's men have, so far, made a mockery of pre-season predictions that they would struggle in the Premier League and they can head into the international break on the back of another impressive result at Newcastle.

The Magpies were enjoying a solid start themselves, with two draws and a win in their first three matches, before they were humbled 4-1 at Leeds United on Monday.

Newcastle v Hull

Newcastle United v Hull City Prediction

Best Bet: Draw or Hull City - Double chance @ 13/10

Newcastle must try to respond to Monday's nightmare trip to Elland Road when they were on the end of a 4-1 defeat having found themselves 3-0 down at half-time.

Until then, new Magpies boss Matthias Jaissle had been praised for the way he had begun following Eddie Howe's summer exit and plenty of comings and goings at St James' Park in the transfer window.

Following two 2-2 draws at home against Liverpool and Bournemouth, this will be seen as the ideal chance for Newcastle to secure their first three points at St James' Park this season.

However, Hull have already shown their mettle in the first month and have built on a brilliant opening-weekend win over Man Utd by taking points off Chelsea and Villa and also beating fellow promoted team Coventry.

It has been a dream start for the Tigers and, even though there are bound to be plenty of tough days ahead, they will not be afraid heading to Newcastle, where they can again execute a gameplan designed to deliver at least a draw.

Alternative Bet: Correct score - 0-0 @ 16/1

Hull have already had one 0-0 draw this season when they frustrated Villa at home and they can pull something very similar off in the north east.

Jakirovic's side will not open up, at least not to begin with, and will instead work hard defensively to deny the Magpies time and space with the hosts likely to dominate possession.

There doesn't appear to be a high chance of loads of goals on Saturday as Newcastle have only scored seven times in their first four league matches, while City have hit just five in four.

Newcastle United v Hull City Bet Builder Tip

  • Under 2.5 goals

  • Yoane Wissa 2+ shots

  • Mohamed Belloumi 2+ shots
    Pays 17/5

A cagey affair could play out at St James' Park with neither side being prolific in front of goal so far this season so backing under 2.5 goals forms the basis of the Bet Builder.

Yoane Wissa has had a fairly lively start to the campaign, and he probably should have had more than one goal considering the forward has had a total of 10 shots in six appearances in all competitions.

The former Brentford man had at least two shots in the games against Newcastle and Tottenham and also when facing Millwall in the League Cup and he can deliver something similar on Saturday.

For Hull, Mohamed Belloumi will be dangerous as the Algerian aims to add to the two goals he scored against Chelsea.

Belloumi had three shots in total last week at Stamford Bridge, while he also had two against both Villa and Man Utd, so it seems likely he will add to his shot tally at St James' Park.
