Gent v Hibernian Prediction: Low corner count in 12/1 Bet Builder

Belgian side Gent and David Gray's Hibernian clash at the KAA Gent Arena in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League play-off round.

Both clubs have been pushed hard to get to this stage with Gent looking to get to the league phase for a third time while Hibernian are hoping to erase the memory of two play-off round flops in the past three seasons.

Gent have seen off Chernazy of Ukraine without scoring a single goal and then pipped Goteborg 2-1 on aggregate.

Hibs had to overcome a 2-0 first-leg deficit to beat Malisheva of Kosovo before edging North Macedonian heavyweights Shkendija 2-1.

The second leg is at Easter Road in Edinburgh next Thursday.

Gent v Hibernian

Gent v Hibernian Prediction

Best Bet: Draw or Hibernian Double Chance @ 23/20

Gent have played four matches in this competition so far and clearly won both, beating Cherkazy and Goteborg.

Yet during their 390 minutes of toil they have been level for 287 of them.

They couldn't get a single goal against Cherkazy - they went through on penalties after a pair of 0-0s - and that absence of much in the way of firepower has to be a boon for Hibs.

Gent are strong favourites here but this is a game where Hibs can avoid defeat.

Their last two away games have yielded a 2-1 win at Rangers in the SPL and a 0-0 draw at Shkendija in this competition.

They look to be mastering the art of minimising risk on their travels and that has to give them a chance alongside the draw in the Double Chance market.

Alternative Bet: Corners Race to 7 - Neither @ 10/11

As the home side you would expect Gent to win most corners, but this could be a tight affair with few risks taken.

Gent are averaging 6.2 corners per game in Europe and have chalked up just seven in two games in the Pro League.

Hibs are averaging five corners per game in Europe and will be doing far more defending than attacking.

Back neither side to win seven corners.

Gent v Hibernian Bet Builder Tip

  • Half Time Draw

  • Under 11 Corners

  • Most Goals in Either Half - Neither (Tie)

    12/1

With so few goals in Gent's four European games - three in total - the full-time and half-time draws look big runners.

This just has the feel of a low scorer so the half-time draw looks a sensible play as the first leg of a Bet Builder.

Under 11 match corners also plays to the idea that these teams won't want to be too gung-ho with a second leg - and potentially a season-defining and money-spinning league stage - to come.

Gent have already had two 0-0s in four European games, Hibs have had one. A repeat here - far from impossible - would see the Tie for Highest Scoring Half come in.

The tie in highest scoring half market can also land in other ways, certainly sufficient for it to warrant inclusion in a Bet Builder.
