Coventry City v Hull City Prediction: Awoniyi can help get Sky Blues up and running in 13/2 Bet Builder

Coventry City host Hull City in the Premier League on Saturday as the two newly-promoted sides do battle following last season’s success in the Championship.

The Sky Blues, who came up as title winners, were given a rough re-introduction to the Premier League after 25 years away, heading to champions Arsenal on the opening night and losing 3-0.

Hull, however, enjoyed a much better start, beating Manchester United 2-0 at home and putting three points on the board after just one game.

Coventry City v Hull City

Coventry v Hull City Prediction

Best Bet: Both teams to score @ 4/5

Coventry may have drawn a blank against Arsenal in their Premier League opener but Frank Lampard’s men certainly know where the goal is after scoring 97 times in the Championship.

The step up to the Premier League means finding the back of the net will be harder but at home to Hull, the Sky Blues will be confident of opening their account.

Coventry hit four past League One Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Cup on Tuesday and will hope their shooting boots work again on Saturday.

Hull took their chances against Manchester United and were efficient in front of goal to gain a two-goal lead by half-time against the Red Devils.

The Tigers will arrive in Coventry confident of adding to their tally and will look to hurt the hosts, who conceded twice against Argyle, from set-pieces.

While both games between these two last season finished goalless, the previous six had all seen both teams score and with Coventry having home advantage and the visitors buoyed by their opening win, the same could happen again on Saturday.

Alternative Bet: Coventry City to win @ 4/5

Coventry have endured a rollercoaster 25 years to get back to the Premier League, dropping down to the fourth tier and forced to share a ground at one stage before beginning their ascent back to the big time.

Mark Robins pushed the club back to the Championship before Frank Lampard then helped the Sky Blues take the next step and earn promotion to cap a remarkable resurrection.

After all the fans have been through, the Coventry Building Society Arena will be bouncing as the teams enter the pitch and the incredible atmosphere will ensure the Sky Blues players feel ten feet tall.

Of course, Coventry will have to win their battles and create opportunities but the positivity on matchday should give the Sky Blues an edge to beat Hull.

The Tigers enjoyed their own home triumph against Manchester United, spurred on by their fervent supporters, but will now be on the other side of it.

Coventry will this as a massive game and play accordingly, ahead of two difficult fixtures against Manchester City and Aston Villa.

These sides played out goalless draws in the Championship last season but as this is Coventry’s first home game back in the Premier League, a more frantic clash is expected. With plenty of goalmouth action likely, backing over two goals is a good angle to take.

Summer signing Taiwo Awoniyi opened his Coventry goal account in the EFL Cup win over Plymouth, netting after only three minutes, and, having come off the bench against Arsenal, may get the nod to start against Hull. He can hit the back of the net once again.

Hull midfielder Matt Crooks was booked 13 times last season and has continued where he left off with a yellow card in the opener against Manchester United.

Coventry are expected to put in a high energy performance which means Crooks will have to cover plenty of ground and could well fall foul of the referee once again.
