Floyd Mayweather announces Manny Pacquaio tune-up fight against kickboxing star Mike Zambidis

Floyd Mayweather is set to face kickboxing legend Mike Zambidis in a crossover boxing bout this summer ahead of his money-spinning rematch with long-term foe Manny Pacquiao in September.

Details of the American star's professional boxing comeback against Pac Man were officially confirmed last month, just weeks after his exhibition showdown with heavyweight great Mike Tyson was also announced.

Greek K-1 veteran Zambidis also teased a showdown with Mayweather earlier this year, suggesting the two would lock-horns in Athens, Greece, at the Oaka Arena on June 27.

Now, Mayweather has backed-up those claims, revealing a deal is in place for the two to trade leather in an exhibition dust-up.

"2026 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for me," the American posted on Instagram.

I’m on the way to entertain!! Athens, Greece. Get ready for an all out exhibition. This summer will be a legendary battle!

"June is the month where history will be made at the Telekom Center. Different energy. Different level."

Whilst Mayweather hasn't fought professionally since defeating UFC star Conor McGregor in Las Vegas in 2017, Zambidis' last kickboxing bout took place a couple of years prior to that when he secured a decision victory over Steve Moxon in his retirement bout.

45-year-old Zambidis has only ever undertaken one officially sanctioned boxing fight, notching-up a unanimous points victory over Antonio Gomez in 2019, on the back of winning 158 of his 180 kickboxing clashes throughout an illustrious career.

Unbeaten five-weight world champion Mayweather's hugely-anticipated return to boxing is expected to pocket him over $450 million, with his blockbuster clash with Pacquiao likely to secure him a handsome $300m pay day alone.

The 49-year-old has won all 50 of his professional fights to date and will be desperate to ensure his unblemished record remains intact when he clashes with the Filipino icon in an officially sanctioned affair on September 19.

Before then however, he has two tune-up fights to look forward to against Tyson and Zambidis.
