England secured their place in the World Cup quarter-finals with a remarkable 3-2 victory over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
While the gulf in quality between England and Mexico was always glaring, various factors pointed towards a round of 16 exit for Thomas Tuchel's side.
Playing against a team who had previously lost just two games from 88 at the Azteca Stadium, combined with the fact that the contest would take place in a ground 7,220ft above sea level, the odds were stacked against the Three Lions before a ball was kicked.
Through the brilliance of Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon and more, England emerged victorious, despite playing the majority of the second half with 10 men following Jarell Quansah's dismissal in the 54th minute.
Quansah is the only England player who will miss the nation's quarter-final contest with Norway through suspension, but five players would miss the semi-final clash if they are booked in Miami and the Three Lions go through.

Yellow cards are wiped following the conclusion of the quarter-finals, and so after Saturday players won't need to worry about an accumulation of yellow cards ruling them out through suspension.
The most notable player at risk of getting a one-match ban for the Three Lions is Jude Bellingham. The Real Madrid star -- who scored a quickfire brace in England's 3-2 win over Mexico -- was booked in the first half of his nation's win over DR Congo in the round of 32, and so a yellow card on Saturday would see him miss the semi-finals if England overcome Norway.
Joining Bellingham in the list of England players one booking away from suspension is midfield ace Declan Rice, with the Arsenal man cautioned less than one minute into the Azteca contest.
Unbelievably, Jordan Henderson was booked without entering the field of play against Mexico -- meaning he too is at risk of suspension -- but his tournament is likely over anyway after sustaining a freak wrist injury during the celebrations after the game.
Defensive duo Marc Guehi and Nico O'Reilly were both booked in the second half of England's last 16 triumph, and so they'll be looking to stay out of the referee's book against Norway to avoid missing a potential semi-final clash.
