Aryna Sabalenka is two wins away from completing an historic US Open hat-trick at Flushing Meadows.
Despite being replaced by Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina at the top of the world rankings, Sabalenka made it through to the last four of the US Open with a dramatic three-set victory over Wimbledon winner Linda Noskova.
Next up for the 28-year-old is an intriguing semi-final against home favourite Jessica Pegula - a match-up Sabalenka has come out on top in on nine occasions out of their 13 previous meetings.
After winning back-to-back Grand Slam titles in Melbourne across 2023 and 2024, Sabalenka started to enjoy hard court domination as she claimed a first US Open success in 2024 by beating Pegula 7-5 7-5 in the final.
Being defending champion didn't seem to add any extra pressure to Sabalenka 12 months later as she defeated another American in Amanda Anisimova to secure the 2025 title.
