Silverstone will host a sprint race for the first time in five years after the British Grand Prix was named one of six events to host a sprint on the 2026 Formula 1 calendar.
Confirmation of Silverstone's inclusion on the sprint calendar is a welcomed boost for organisers and arrives just days before tickets go on general sale for the British Grand Prix.
The Northamptonshire circuit hosted the first-ever F1 sprint race back in 2021, won by Max Verstappen, but has not hosted the shortened format in the years that have followed.
Silverstone will also be accompanied by Singapore's Marina Bay Circuit as the famed night race prepares to host its first sprint, despite being a notoriously difficult venue to overtake at.
Canada's Gilles Villeneuve Circuit in Montreal will also host an F1 sprint race for the first time as it moves from its traditional June slot to May on the 2026 calendar.
Sprint action will return to Zandvoort as the Dutch Grand Prix prepares to bid farewell next year, while China and Miami have retained their status as sprint race venues.
Brazil's Interlagos, which has hosted an F1 sprint every year since its inception, has not been included on next year's list.
Belgium's Spa Francorchamps, Austin's Circuit of the Americas and Qatar's Lusail International Circuit have also been dropped.
F1 president Stefano Domenicali said: "With four competitive sessions rather than two during a conventional grand prix weekend, F1 sprint events offer more action each day for our fans, broadcast partners and for the promoters - driving increased attendance and viewership.
"The 2026 season will usher in a new era of regulations, so having three new sprint venues will only add to the drama on track."
