With this season's curtain-raiser set to return to the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, we've taken a look back at every stadium to have hosted the Community Shield over the years.
Wembley Stadium has traditionally served as the venue for the showdown between league and cup winners that marks that start of the new football season.
However, a concert being held at the national stadium this weekend has forced the Football Association to seek alternative arrangements for the clash between reigning Premier League champions Arsenal and 2026 FA Cup winners Manchester City.
While this Sunday marks the first time in two decades that the game will be played in the Welsh capital, the annual fixture has a rich history outside of Wembley Way.
After all, the first Community Shield to be held all the way back in 1908 was actually contested at Stamford Bridge, with Manchester United beating Queens Park Rangers 4-0 in a replay after their first meeting ended goalless.
The home of Chelsea would serve as the venue for the first four fixtures of the Charity Shield -- as it was known then -- with the game subsequently being contested across a number of iconic now demolished grounds, including the likes of Highbury, White Hart Lane and Maine Road.
It wasn't until nearly 70 years after the fixture's inception that the FA made the decision to move it to the old Wembley Stadium, with Liverpool's defeat of Leeds United on penalties in 1974 marking the first time the game was staged in front of the ground's famous twin towers.
Since then Wembley has hosted the bulk of the annual games, with a few notable exceptions.
From 2001 to 2006 the fixture was staged at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff as the new Wembley was under construction. The 2001 game between Liverpool and Manchester United marked the first time the Community Shield had been held outside England.
The next detour away from the home of the England national team came in 2012, when Manchester City defeated Chelsea at Villa Park.
The change of location was necessitated by Wembley hosting the men's football final for the 2012 Olympic Games on the same day.
The only other time prior to this year that the game has strayed from Wembley came in 2022 when Liverpool took on Manchester City.
With the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 final set to be staged the following day at Wembley, Leicester City's King Power Stadium served as the venue as Liverpool claimed a 3-1 win.
