Middlesbrough have made a strong start to the transfer window as they look to go one further in the 2026/27 Championship term by booking their return to the Premier League.
Boro had backed manager Rob Edwards substantially in the summer of 2025 -- with €7.50m David Strelec amongst the club's additions -- but the 43-year-old departed for Wolves just 14 Championship games into the season.
The departure of Edwards so early into the campaign was far from ideal, but his successor -- Kim Hellberg -- maintained the pace at the Riverside Stadium upon his arrival.
Boro looked firmly in the hunt for an automatic promotion place when beating Sheffield United in February to extend their winning run to six games, but an inconsistent run followed and Hellberg's side had to settle for a fifth-place finish.
Despite losing 2-1 in the Championship play-off semi-finals to Southampton, the North East outfit were reinstated into the final after the Saints admitted to breaching regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other clubs’ training.
Boro lost 1-0 at Wembley Stadium to Hull City -- preventing their return to the top-flight -- but they're showing signs of ambition in the ongoing window and we take a look at every signing that they have made.
