Everton in battle with Nottm Forest for Tottenham midfielder

Everton have joined Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr.

Daily Telegraph reporter Matt Law posted on X regarding the interest in the Senegalese international from the two Premier League sides.

It is believed that Tottenham are open to a sale following the acquisitions of the likes of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes over the summer.

However, Everton and Forest could also face competition for Sarr's signature from Turkish giants Besiktas.

Sarr, who was part of Senegal's World Cup squad this summer, is still only 23 and yet to reach the peak of his powers.

He arrived in North London back in the summer of 2022 and has gone on to make 141 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals.

The combative midfielder may become a victim of Tottenham's summer spending spree despite being one of just a handful of players who emerged from a dismal 2025/26 campaign with any credit.

Everton have already acquired the services of Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough, whilst the emergence of Harrison Armstrong has also provided another option alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and James Garner in midfield.

Sarr would face stern competition for a place in the Everton team, but the options aren't quite as in-depth at Nottingham Forest, who are still looking for the best solution for a team without Elliot Anderson.
