Andy Woodman says he felt "misled" following his shock dismissal as Bromley manager at the end of October.
Woodman had been in charge of Bromley since 2021, guiding them from tenth in the National League to the third tier of English football for the first time in the club's 134-year history.
To put Woodman's achievements into perspective, the Ravens had never operated higher than the fifth division prior to his arrival, but the former Northampton Town and Oxford United goalkeeper won the FA Trophy before orchestrating their promotion from the National League in 2023/24 by defeating Solihull Moors in the play-off final on penalties.
Few gave Bromley a chance of long-term survival, but Woodman secured 11th in their maiden Football League campaign prior to scaling unprecedented heights in their second season by winning the League Two title.
Bromley's ascent is one of the most extraordinary tales in recent EFL history, but just 10 games into their debut League One campaign, Woodman was axed.
There was no denying Bromley hadn't started the season well. They sat 23rd, just one point above bottom club Wigan Athletic, and had conceded an EFL-high 25 goals at the time of Woodman's sacking.
But it was widely anticipated the 55-year-old would be given a free hit in light of what he'd achieved at Hayes Lane, or at the very least afforded time to try and rectify their woes.
Instead Woodman finds himself unemployed and Bromley on the hunt for a new manager as they embark on a fresh chapter.
Speaking to Inside the 72, Woodman said: "I think there's loads of ways of speaking to people and trying to sort of toe the line, but I think you've just got to speak honestly.
"The easiest way I can sum this up is that when I got the job at Bromley, my first game was Wealdstone and my last game in the league was Leicester.
"I was pretty disappointed and pretty upset. It felt like I'd been misled, in numerous ways.
"To give five-and-a-half years of your life to a club and a fanbase that I really loved and bought into, where I gave everything I had, to then be told in no more than three of four minutes 'thanks'. That was it really.
"There's no other way of dressing it up. That's the truth. I'm disappointed, but that's football as we know it guys. Unfortunately it never, ever surprises us."
