Everton have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles from French side Lyon.
Journalist Mark McAdam confirmed the news of the imminent transfer on his official X account.
"Everton have agreed a deal with Lyon for Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
"Deal worth €5 million. Player into the last year of his deal.
"Maitland-Niles travelling to the UK from Lyon this afternoon."
The 28-year-old has made over 100 appearances for Lyon since joining the club on a permanent deal from Arsenal in the summer of 2023.
Maitland-Niles had loan spells at Ipswich Town, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton when he was on the books at Arsenal and he has also won five England caps.
The €5 million deal could prove to be a shrewd piece of business for Everton given his ability to play in a number of positions.
He is primarily a right-back or defensive midfielder but he can also operate as a left full-back or as a midfielder with more license to get forward.
His arrival will provide manager David Moyes with another option at right-back as he looks to build on a solid start to the new season.
