Erling Haaland odds to break Jamie Vardy's Premier League goalscoring record

Erling Haaland has scored in seven consecutive Premier League games and will have his sights set on breaking Jamie Vardy's record of netting in 11 straight matches.

Vardy's extraordinary goalscoring run came during Leicester's infamous 2015/16 title-winning season, where the ex-England international opened the scoring against Manchester United to get himself on the scoresheet for a record-breaking 11th game in a row.

In doing so, he surpassed the previous record held by former United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy, who found the net in 10 successive English top-flight matches matches spread across the 2002/03 and 2003/04 seasons.

11 years on from Vardy's crowning moment, Manchester City forward Haaland has a chance to make history himself...

bet365 trading expert Steve Freeth said: "There is plenty of noise surrounding Manchester City as they await their fate, but amid it all, Erling Haaland continues to do his talking on the pitch. His current run of scoring in seven successive Premier League games may have gone slightly under the radar — but not with us.

"We rate the prolific Norwegian as a 10/1 shot to break Jamie Vardy’s Premier League record of scoring in 11 consecutive games this season, something he could achieve against his dad's old club Leeds United in December."

On paper, City have favourable upcoming fixtures, too.

They welcome Brighton to the Etihad in their next outing before facing bottom half sides in Nottingham Forest and Fulham.

Arsenal clearly pose the toughest test of all, however, Haaland has a decent record against the Gunners, finding the net in each of his last four league clashes with Mikel Arteta's men.

Should he score in those four matches, then he will have the chance to break Vardy's record in front of his own fans against Leeds.

The 26-year-old has started the season in typically ruthless goalscoring fashion, bagging nine times to open up a gap of three between himself and his nearest rival in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, Liverpool's Alexander Isak.
