England could be without Reece James and Elliot Anderson when they face Panama in the World Cup on Saturday night.
David Ornstein of The Athletic took to X to report that Anderson "may miss" the Panama contest with "muscle tightness".
Meanwhile, James has been "ruled out" of the final Group L fixture with a minor "hamstring tweak", and -- while the issues isn't "too serious" -- he is also expected to be sidelined for England's Round of 32 contest.
All the talk surrounding Anderson in more recent days has been concerning his future, with Manchester City striking a reported deal with Nottingham Forest to sign the midfielder for £116m.
He headed into the 2026 World Cup off the back of an impressive term with the East Midlands outfit, featuring in all 38 Premier League games and playing a key role in Forest's Europe League campaign -- where they were eliminated by Aston Villa in the semi-finals.
He started alongside Rice in both of the Three Lions' first two World Cup games, but his potential absence could see the return of Jordan Henderson or Kobbie Mainoo to Thomas Tuchel's starting XI.
James' injury comes as less of a surprise given his record, but he did play 29 top-flight games for Chelsea last term and there was a confidence that he would remain fully fit for the entirety of the World Cup.
With that said, there was a dose of skepticism amongst Three Lions supporters when Tuchel opted to play James for a second successive game against Ghana -- especially given the ease at which Djed Spence adjusted to the right-back role in his substitute cameo against Croatia.
It's Spence who is likely to come into the team against Panama, with Tino Livramento having withdrawn from the squad with a calf injury sustained in training.
