England captain Harry Brook addresses previous off-field behaviour

England's Harry Brook has said he's 'learned a lot' as a captain as his side prepares for a tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Brook is one of a number of England players whose off-field behaviour made headlines over the last year, having been involved in an altercation with a nightclub bouncer prior to a match against New Zealand ahead of the Ashes series in Australia.

Brook at the time retained the captaincy but was reportedly on a formal warning regarding his conduct in the aftermath.

The Yorkshireman was passed up for the red ball captaincy but still skippers the side in white-ball formats, where he's been in excellent form.

Pakistan v England

Brook made an unbeaten century in the ODI with Sri Lanka in January and more recently recorded scores of 67 and 77 in the home series with Sri Lanka. In T20Is, Brook is averaging a ridiculous 114.67 across his last five innings, two of which came against India.

Speaking ahead of England's clash with Pakistan on Tuesday, Brook said: "I've learnt a lot as a captain, I've learnt a lot as a person.

"I know it wasn't an ideal situation to put myself in, but I feel like as a captain and a leader I've learnt a lot. Responsibilities and leadership aren't just on the field, they're more so off the field as well and actions speak louder than words.

"I enjoy the extra responsibility. I like the extra little bit of added pressure. I'm not going to go out there and score runs every time I bat but I want to be the man that is in that match-winning situation who can get us over the line.

"I know there have been a few innings where I haven't managed to do that but hopefully I've turned that corner and I can really be the man England fans and the team rely on."
