Ben Stokes has hailed Harry Brook after his scintillating century against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
Brook blasted his way to an unbeaten 114 as England won the first of the three-match T20 series by 119 runs at the Ageas Bowl, prompting Stokes to compare the Yorkshireman to Kevin Pietersen.
Pietersen -- who's been a vocal critic of the England team, though has largely lauded Brook's ability -- is back in the Three Lions setup, serving as a mentor for the white-ball side
Posting on X on Tuesday evening, Stokes said: "I don’t even think the genius of KP could come close to what Harry Brook has talent-wise.
"Is it really that hard to just sit back and admire these players for what they are, on the good days and the bad days, and stop berating them for doing things that we would never, ever, ever even think of doing because we simply aren’t on their level to think that way?
"You are an absolute freak, Harry.
"You’re mint to watch."
Brook has come in for criticism for the nature of some of his dismissals in the past, but Stokes believes fans must take the rough with the smooth when it comes to Brook.
Stokes clarified his remarks shortly after, adding: "Bit harsh on KP actually 🤣🤣 both are freak talents but Brook better IMO is my point".
