Eddie Howe potential next job

Rumours regarding Eddie Howe's future as Newcastle boss have began to swirl.

The Magpies only occupy a lower mid-table position in the Premier League and have been knocked out of the two domestic cup competitions as well as the UEFA Champions League.

Howe has been in charge since 2021 and has achieved a fair amount in his near five-year tenure at St James' Park. Newcastle have twice qualified for the Champions League under the watch of Howe and, in 2025, the club won their first major trophy in 70 years.

However, performances this season have led to concern from fans that the squad might be stagnating under the former Bournemouth manager, leading some to question his position heading into the summer.

Should Howe depart St James' Park, we take a look at where he might wind up next...

England

Despite Thomas Tuchel recently putting pen to paper on Three Lions contract extension, there has to be a chance that he is no longer in post come the end of the World Cup.

A group stage exit in North America would see the German coach come under serious fire and Howe's name has been constantly linked to the job for a good while now.

Manchester United

There is no doubting that Michael Carrick has done a decent job at United but he is by no means guaranteed to land the job on a permanent basis.

United have six games left to play in the Premier League, all of which provide crucial opportunities for Carrick to impress the board and fans.

Howe has been talked up as a potential option for the Red Devils ever since Ralf Rangnick left the club in May 2022 and four years on, unrest at Newcastle could provide the perfect storm.

Celtic

The unlikeliest of Scottish Premiership title wins could see Martin O'Neill remain at Parkhead next season, however, even if they do top the table; it is still probable that the veteran manager trades his current role for one less prominent.

Howe would be some coup for the Bhoys.

Promises of almost guaranteed silverware, European football and one of the most passionate fan bases in Europe is hard to turn down though and it could prove an attractive proposition for the 48-year-old.
