Rangers will travel to Dundee United in their opening Scottish Premiership assignment of the new campaign in a match that will signify the official start of the Derek McInnes era.
The former Hearts boss took over the Ibrox managerial reins earlier this week after Danny Rohl opted to cut short his spell at the club to join Austrian outfit RB Salzburg.
McInnes, who agonisingly missed out on the league title whilst with Hearts last term, has now been tasked with helping restore Rangers to the summit of Scottish football with Old Firm rivals Celtic having dominated the past decade and a half.
Rangers have remarkably won just one league title since 2011, but will hope the appointment of the club's former midfielder will help bridge the gap between themselves and their near-neighbours.
The Gers' quest for a 56th Scottish Premiership crown will get underway on Friday 31st July when they travel to Tannadice for a meeting with Jim Goodwin's side - the first time the pair will have met on the opening weekend for 39 years!
Rangers will be hoping to extend an unbeaten run in the fixture that currently stretches 13 matches, with United's last triumph of any kind coming in the league back in August 2021.
Since that 1-0 home win, the Ibrox side have won nine and drawn four of the subsequent encounters, including a couple of 2-2 draws and a 4-2 home win last term.
Goals certainly haven't been in short supply in this fixture in recent times either with at least four being scored in each of the past six clashes, something that could be worth paying attention to when deliberating potential plays for the upcoming curtain-raiser.
