In a Grand Slam full of shocks and surprises, Diana Shnaider has made the most of her opportunity and is two wins away from claiming a first major title.
During an incredible French Open quarter-final, the 25th seed produced a dramatic comeback from 6-3 4-1 down against world number one Aryna Sabalenka - winning 12 of the final 13 games to reach the final four.

Shnaider's tennis journey began at the age of four and she was already working with a personal coach at the age of eight.
At 18, she moved to the United States to attend North Carolina State University, where she competed for the NC State Wolfpack in collegiate tennis.
Even before turning professional, Shnaider showed immense promise on the junior circuit. She captured the girls' doubles title at Wimbledon in 2021, partnering Kristina Dmitruk of Belarus. The following year, she won the 2022 Australian Open girls' doubles championship alongside American Clervie Ngounoue.
In her debut year on the professional tour in 2022, Shnaider claimed her first WTA 125 title at the Montevideo Open.
While she made her Grand Slam debut the next year, 2024 marked her true breakthrough - winning three tour-level titles and claiming a silver medal in doubles at the Paris Olympic Games.
Her success continued into 2025, where she landed a first WTA 1000 doubles title at the Miami Open, in addition to capturing a WTA 500 title in Monterrey.
Although a Grand Slam singles title is yet to be won, her impressive run of results since 2024 suggests she is a major force to reckon with and the French capital could be where she fulfils her destiny in 2026.
