The Diamond League has become a staple of the athletics calendar with the world's best athletes competing over the course of a season for a chance to win a Diamond Trophy in their discipline.
Athletes compete across the globe at 14 series meetings where they accrue points based on their performance for a chance to qualify for the Final, which is held in early September.
Diamond League 2026 Prize Money Breakdown
Diamond League will pay out $9.24million in prize money across the 2026 season, while a total of around $18m is paid to athletes over the course of the year, including promotional fees for the top athletes.
The total prize money awarded at each regular season meeting is $500,000 before the fund increases to $2.24m for the Finals in Brussels.
Each discipline has a prize pot of between $30,000 to $40,000 at the 14 series meetings and between $60,000 to $100,000 for the Finals.
The maximum an athlete can earn in prize money at a single event is $60,000, which is paid to the winner of a Diamond+ Discipline in the Diamond League Final.

What is Diamond+ Disciplines?
At each Diamond League meeting, organisers select eight disciplines where athletes are paid higher levels of prize money.
Individual athletes will be able to earn up to $20,000 at series meetings and up to $60,000 at the Diamond League Final.

Yes, the Diamond League pays athletes if they break a world record at one of their meetings.
