Derby County are reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Danish forward Henrik Meister from Pisa.
The Rams have been on the hunt for a new striker this summer, with Southampton's Ben Brereton Diaz one of multiple options the club are considering.
Southampton are said to be intent on only sanctioning a permanent exit for the Chilean international however, forcing Derby to evaluate other potential loan signings.
One of those is Meister, a Danish youth international currently plying his trade in Italy.
According to a report from Italian outlet SestaPorta , the Championship side are close to agreeing a transfer that would see Meister join the club on an initial season-long loan.
Derby will reportedly pay an up-front fee of £1million for the loan, and will have the option to sign Meister permanently next summer for a figure said to be in the region of £8m.
A versatile forward that can be deployed across the front three, Meister has enjoyed a nomadic start to his career at age of just 22, having already played in Norway, France and Italy, in addition to his native Denmark.
After joining the club on an initial loan he was part of Filippo Inzaghi's Pisa side that secured promotion back to Serie A after a 34-year absence.
Meister would go on to score two goals from 15 starts in the Italian top flight as the club ultimately finished bottom.
The forward was left out of Pisa's matchday squad for their Serie B opener on Sunday as talks surrounding his exit intensified.
