Crystal Palace have been handed a major boost surrounding Daichi Kamada's future, with the midfielder reportedly close to agreeing a new contract.
Kamada arrived at Selhurst Park from Lazio on a free transfer in the summer of 2024, becoming the club's first ever Japanese player.
Since joining the Eagles Kamada has been an integral component of Oliver Glasner's side that claimed their first ever major trophy with their FA Cup win last year, before adding UEFA Conference League honours with a 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano in May.
There had been speculation that Kamada, who also played under Glasner at Eintracht Frankfurt before arriving at Palace, could follow the Austrian out of the club this summer.
However, talks surrounding a new contract have been ongoing for some time now - and it appears that a breakthrough has been reached that will see him extend his stay.
Kamada netted twice in Group F at the 2026 World Cup as Japan progressed to the knockout stages as runners-up.
While their bid for glory would ultimately come to an end at the round of 32 stage, Kamada's comments following Japan's exit appear to indicate that he is planning on remaining in south London.
‘When you consider that I can play in the Premier League, play in a European league, play in London, and have my family in a familiar environment, there aren't many clubs better than Palace,’ Kamada told Japanese reporters.
The Athletic has reported that a deal between the two parties is close to being completed which will come as a major boost for new Palace boss Pierre Sage as he prepares for his first season in English football.
