Sri Lanka v India Second Test Prediction, Tips and Bet Builder

Sri Lanka and India meet at Colombo for the second Test, where Shubman Gill's visitors will be looking to complete a series clean sweep after their impressive victory in Galle.

The Lankans were beaten by 165 runs in the opening Test and face an uphill battle to level the series after three of their more experienced batters were confirmed to be missing through injury.

Dhananjaya de Silva's men will be without Kusal Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal for the second Test, while Pathum Nissanka is also unavailable as he continues his recovery from wrist surgery.

India will be delighted with the emergence of Manav Suthar, who took 10 wickets in Galle, while Sonal Dinusha's two substantial scores show Sri Lanka do possess some batting quality despite their problems at the top of the order.

Sri Lanka v India Tips Summary

Best Bet - Sonal Dinusha 70+ match runs @ 11/8
Alternative Bet - Rishabh Pant to hit the most match sixes @ 13/8
Bet Builder - Sri Lanka opening partnership under 22.5, Prabath Jayasuriya 4+ wickets, KL Rahul 50+ match runs & Manav Suthar 5+ wickets @ 13/2

Sri Lanka v India

Sri Lanka v India Prediction

Best Bet: Sonal Dinusha 70+ match runs @ 11/8

There is plenty of pressure on Sri Lanka's batting line-up heading into the second Test, but Dinusha can provide another bright spot after an excellent performance in Galle.

The 25-year-old scored 100 in Sri Lanka's first innings before following that up with an impressive 84 in the second.

Dinusha is still in the early stages of his Test career, but has already made a considerable impression, scoring 370 runs at an average of 61.66 from his four Tests, with one hundred and two 50s to his name.

The left-hander showed the patience required to succeed against India's formidable attack in Galle and will be expected to play another important role in Colombo, with Sri Lanka's batting weakened by the absence of Kusal Mendis, Chandimal and Nissanka.

Having already showing he can handle India's spinners, 70 or more match runs looks within his capabilities.

Alternative Bet: Rishabh Pant to hit the most match sixes @ 13/8

Rishabh Pant's aggressive approach makes him an appealing option in the match sixes market after the India wicketkeeper hit three in the opening Test.

Nobody managed more sixes than Pant in Galle and the left-hander is renowned for taking the attack to the opposition whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Pant has now hit 100 sixes in 51 Test matches, underlining the power he possesses and his willingness to play attacking shots even in the longest format.

India have a strong batting line-up and Pant could have plenty of opportunities to attack Sri Lanka's spinners again, particularly if the visitors establish a strong platform at the top of the order.

With three sixes already in the series and his aggressive style making him a constant threat, Pant can lead the way in this market once more.

Sri Lanka v India Bet Builder Tip

  • Sri Lanka opening partnership under 22.5

  • Prabath Jayasuriya 4+ wickets

  • KL Rahul 50+ match runs

  • Manav Suthar 5+ wickets

    Pays 13/2

Nishan Madushka and Lahiru Udara struggled in Galle and India can put the Sri Lanakan under pressure once more, with Madushka having been dropped and replaced by debutant Kamil Mishara.

The Lankan opening pair managed opening stands of 0 and 13 in the first Test and the lack of experience is now even greater with Mishara set to step in.

Prabath Jayasuriya should also be among the wickets again after taking 4-109 and 3-43 in Galle. The spinner has taken three wickets or more in 13 of his 15 home Tests, making four or more wickets a realistic target.

India's KL Rahul enjoyed a strong opening Test, scoring 82 and 35, and can reach 50 runs or more across the match again.

He averages 36.81 in Test cricket and 38.50 in Sri Lanka, including one century and three 50s from 10 innings in the country.

Finally, Suthar was the star of the first Test with 10 wickets, taking 4-76 in the first innings before claiming 6-55 in the second.

The left-arm spinner now has 17 wickets from just two Tests and caused Sri Lanka's batters all kinds of problems.

Tactics, Form & Team News

Sri Lanka have been dealt a major blow with both Kusal Mendis and Chandimal ruled out of the second Test.

Mendis remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Chandimal must miss the match after suffering a concussion in Galle. Nissanka is also unavailable as he continues his recovery from wrist surgery.

Pasindu Sooriyabandara comes in for Chandimal, with Mishara replacing Madushka and Keshara Nuwantha taking the place of Ramesh Mendis.

Expected Sri Lanka XI: Mishara, Udara, Kamindu Mendis, De Silva (c), Dinusha, Sooriyabandara, Dickwella (wk), Nuwantha, Jayasuriya, Kumara, A Fernando.

India have fewer selection concerns after their commanding victory in Galle, although Kuldeep Yadav's position is under scrutiny after he finished the Test with figures of 1-103.

Saransh Jain is pushing for a debut after impressing for India A and could replace the wrist-spinner, although there is an argument for backing Kuldeep after one below-par performance.

Expected India XI: Jaiswal, Rahul, Padikkal, Gill (c), Pant (wk), Jurel, Jadeja, Suthar, Siraj, Yadav, Krishna.
