Bangladesh v Australia First ODI Prediction, Tips and Bet Builder

Australia will be looking to bounce back after suffering a 2-1 ODI series defeat in Pakistan and they get a chance to do just that when they face hosts Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

The Baggy Green will be playing at the venue for the first time in just over 15 years, having claimed a 3-0 series in April 2011, when all three matches were played at Mirpur.

However, they have suffered a major setback on the eve of the series, with Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head and Tanveer Sangha all ruled out.

In total these two teams have played 21 completed one-day internationals and the Aussies have won 20 of those, with the lone Tigers' success coming back in June 2005, when they won by five wickets in Cardiff.

Bangladesh v Australia Tips Summary

Best Bet - Bangladesh to win @ 2.37
Alternative Bet - Nahid Rana top team bowler @ 4.50
Bet Builder - Josh Inglis top team batter, Hundred in the match - No & Australia most sixes @ 16.00

Bangladesh v Australia

Bangladesh v Australia Prediction

Best Bet: Bangladesh to win @ 2.37

Australia have won 21 of the 22 matches they have completed against Bangladesh and almost all of those victories have been by convincing margins, with the closest results wins by four wickets and 48 runs.

That means that there is little value in backing the Aussies to make a winning start to this series, especially with the Tigers' recent results suggesting that they are capable of springing a shock on Tuesday.

The hosts have played eight of their last nine one-day internationals at Mirpur and therefore they have a wealth of experience of the conditions, while their last three ODI series - all at home - saw them defeat West Indies (2-0), Pakistan (2-1) and New Zealand (2-1).

If ever there was a time for Bangladesh to claim a second victory over Australia it is surely now, especially now Marsh and Head are confirmed absentees.

Alternative Bet: Nahid Rana top team bowler @ 4.50

Nahid Rana has helped bring some much-needed pace to the Tigers' attack since breaking onto the international scene and he has certainly enjoyed himself at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium so far this year.

In the five matches combined played in Mirpur against the Green Stars and the Black Caps, Rana claimed 15 wickets, including five-wicket hauls against both of the Tigers' more illustrious opponents.

A return of 5-24 against Pakistan in March was backed up just over a month later by figures of 5-32 in a six-wicket victory over New Zealand, so he is in the sort of form needed to trouble a still misfiring and depleted Australia batting line-up.

Bangladesh v Australia Bet Builder Tip

  • Josh Inglis top team batter

  • Hundred in the match - No

  • Australia most sixes

    Pays 16.00

The Baggy Green had hoped to have star batter Head back in the fold after his time in the IPL, but the left-hander now sits out, meaning that stand-in skipper Josh Inglis will have to shoulder a massive responsibility.

Inglis has passed 50 in three of his last four ODI innings, so is backed to be top team batter in Mirpur.

The second part of this Bet Builder sides with no batter to score a hundred in the match.

The top Australia individual score in the series in Pakistan was a mere 65 and Bangladesh registered just one ton across their eight games in Mirpur against West Indies, Pakistan and New Zealand.

Finally, add in the Baggy Green to hit the most sixes, even if they are beaten, with the Aussies having cleared the ropes 10 times in both of their two most recent ODI meetings with the Tigers.
