Cardiff v West Ham team news & predicted lineups; Parker in Hammers dugout

Scott Parker will be in the West Ham dugout for the very first time as a manager when the Hammers travel to Cardiff on Wednesday evening.

Back-to-back home losses against Southampton and West Brom proved to be the final straw for the West Ham hierarchy, who relieved Nuno Espirito Santo of his duties as head coach early on Tuesday morning.

However, club chiefs have wasted no time in finding a replacement, hiring ex-player Scott Parker to oversee the first team.

Parker has an excellent track record in the second tier, earning promotion to the Premier League on no less than three occasions with Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley.

Cardiff v West Ham

Injuries to Konstantinos Mavropanos and Kyle Walker-Peters leaves Parker with some fitness issues to contend with heading into his maiden game in charge.

Joel Veltman could come back into the starting XI on the right side of defence to replace Walker-Peters. The Dutchman has largely been used from the bench this season, starting just five matches.

On the opposite flank, Ollie Scarles may earn a start, with Morato partnering Max Kilman at the centre-half.

Arne Engels and Divine Mukasa could continue in midfield, but Manor Solomon may return as a starter. Captain Jarrod Bowen and Joel Piroe are also likely to feature.

Cardiff City have started after earning promotion back to the second tier under Brian Barry-Murphy.

They currently sit 18th, but have picked up eye-catching results of late; earning a draw against Middlesbrough and picking up wins against Watford and Birmingham.

Those efforts are made all the more impressive when you consider that they are operating through somewhat of a defensive injury crisis. Dylan Lawlor and Callum Chambers are both sidelined, and will be joined by the suspended Gabriel Osoh.

There is hope that Krystian Bielik could return, however.

Will Fish is also a doubt after picking up a problem against Wolves, as is Perry Ng, who may play through his fitness troubles.

Another that was withdrawn in the weekend defeat at Molineux was Alex Robertson and his participation is also in doubt.

Cardiff predicted XI

Trott; Kpakio, Bielik, Bagan, Scnalon; Colwill, Turnbull; Tanner, Moylan, Willock; Salech

West Ham predicted XI

Hermansen; Veltman, Kilman, Morato, Scarles; Engels, Mukasa; Bowen, Pablo, Solomon; Piroe
