UEFA will take no further action against Manchester United's Matheus Cunha after the Brazilian returned to the field of play after his sending off against Roma on Tuesday night.
Nearing a 10-game winless run, Cunha capitalised on a defensive error to draw United level late on before lashing home a superb winner, sparking scenes of jubilation not seen at Old Trafford this season.
In the heat of the moment, Cunha ditched his traditional surfing celebration, removing his shirt and launching himself into the crowd, receiving a yellow card.
Cunha then flew into a challenge shortly after, earning himself a second yellow. Seemingly prolonging his exit, Cunha ambled around the Old Trafford pitch, heading down the tunnel.
But the United forward returned at full time to join in the celebrations. The laws of the game state that players must leave the field of play and are strictly prohibited from joining their team mates on the bench or in the technical area.
That extends to full time, with players still not permitted to return to the pitch, but Cunha was seen celebrating with team mates before head coach Michael Carrick spotted the match winner, ordering him back off the field, much to Cunha's apparent annoyance.
The incident wasn't mentioned in the referee's report, however, meaning Cunha will serve just a one-match UEFA Champions League ban.
Cunna will miss the trip to Sporting CP at the end of the month, but will be available for the home game with RB Leipzig in December.
