Burnley are closing in on the signing of long-term transfer target Harry Amass with the defender expected to sign for the Championship promotion hopefuls in the next 24 hours.
The Clarets are one of a number of second-tier clubs to have held a sustained interest in the 19-year-old after he shone during loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City last season.
Amass subsequently impressed Manchester United boss Michael Carrick during pre-season, but he has found opportunities hard to come by at Old Trafford during the early stages of the campaign.
Whilst the Red Devils were unwilling to sanction an exit earlier in the summer, it seems as though their stance has since shifted, with the player now likely to be on the move before Tuesday's 11pm deadline.
According to EFL transfer guru Pete O'Rourke, Burnley are in detailed discussions with United chiefs with an agreement expected to be struck imminently.

Earlier this month, the Athletic reported that United held a valuation of around £6 million on the player, and cited West Ham United and Burnley, amongst others, of having shown interest.
It now seems the Clarets have won the race for his signature with Amass set to link-up with Nicky Hayen's side for at least the 2026/27 campaign.
The Clarets have struggled to acclimatise to life back in the Championship following relegation from the Premier League in May, with the side currently sat inside the relegation zone after picking up just a solitary point from their opening three league fixtures.
