Championship side Burnley are reportedly pursuing a shock move for former Scotland manager Steve Clarke.
The 62-year-old stepped down as Scotland manager on Sunday following their elimination from the 2026 World Cup.
After labouring to a 1-0 victory over Haiti, Scotland suffered disappointing defeats to Morocco and Brazil.
Scotland were not immediately knocked out of the tournament as they looked to sneak into the Round of 32 as one of the eight best third-placed teams.
However, results subsequently went against them and Clarke resigned in the aftermath of their elimination being confirmed.
Whilst the likes of Ange Postecoglou and David Moyes are amongst the favourites in the next Scotland manager betting, Clarke is now the subject of interest elsewhere straight away according to Football Insider.
Burnley's attempts to find a permanent successor for Scott Parker have not gone entirely smoothly.
A move for Wales manager Craig Bellamy fell through at the eleventh hour, while there were also reports that former Wolves boss Rob Edwards was approached before he distanced himself from the role.
From the outside, Clarke looks in need of a rest following a disappointing summer where he did not look a happy man as Scotland struggled on the world stage.
But the situation at Burnley could be an appealing one given that they are amongst the Championship promotion favourites for next season.
The likes of Steve Cooper and Robin van Persie are also believed to be amongst the contenders for the vacant position and the club will want to move on quickly after the Bellamy saga.
