Burnley are reportedly in talks to appoint Swiss manager Fabio Celestini as the club's new head coach.
The Clarets currently find themselves languishing the Championship relegation zone following a dismal start to life back in the second tier.
A 4-1 defeat away to newly-promoted Lincoln City on Saturday proved to be the final nail in Nicky Hayen's brief stint in charge, with the Belgian subsequently sacked after picking up just one win from 14.
In the aftermath of Hayen's dismissal a number of potential successors have been floated, with former Wolves boss Rob Edwards reportedly turning down an approach from the club earlier this week.
In the wake of the reported rejection Burnley have pressed on with their pursuit of other candidates, with former CSKA Moscow boss Celestini now said to a leading contender.
According to a report from The Athletic the 50-year-old has travelled to England with his staff for talks but an agreement between the two parties is still yet to be reached.
After a playing career that saw him turn out for the likes of Marseille and Getafe the former Switzerland international took his first steps into management in Italy before returning to Swiss Super League club Lausanne-Sport as manager.
He would go on to coach a number of clubs in his home country, and led Basel to a league and cup double in the 2024-25 season.
Celestini later controversially moved to CSKA, winning the Russian Super Cup in his first game in charge before departing the club in May by mutual consent.
