Burnley are looking to finally appoint their new manager as they enter advanced talks with Genk boss Nicky Hayen.
Former manager Scott Parker left the club in the closing weeks of last season as the club were relegated from the Premier League.
Mike Jackson was tasked with leading the team on an interim basis whilst a permanent appointment was made, but their attempts to find a new manager have not gone to plan.
Wales boss Craig Bellamy was their number one target but the move fell through at the eleventh hour just when it looked as though the move was going to be completed.
There were subsequent reports that Burnley had then offered the role to Rob Edwards, with the former Wolves boss reportedly turning the job down.
Burnley will hope that they have now found their man in the form of the Belgian manager.
Journalist Pete O'Rourke has reported that talks have now advanced as the club looks to make an appointment.
Hayen joined Genk in December and has been linked with the likes of Celtic and Rangers in the past.
He is most known for leading Club Brugge to the Belgian title in the 2023/24 season.
The 45-year-old also won the Belgian Cup the following season before also leading the club to Super Cup success.
