Bolton Wanderers and Stockport County clash in mouth-watering League One play-off final at Wembley.
Extremely well matched on paper, the market is currently unable to split the two Northern clubs who are both 17/10 to win in 90 minutes. It is Stockport who have the advantage on the head-to-head front, The Hatters defeated Bolton all the way back in August before there more recent meeting in April ended in a 2-2 draw.
Stockport also got the better of Bolton over the course of the league season, finishing third, two places and two points above their play-off final rivals.
However, these are fine margins and in a Wembley final, anything can happen.
Bolton booked their place in the play-off final courtesy of an impressive two-legged success over Bradford. Steven Schumacher's men won 1-0 both home and away in their semi-final clashes to put them on the brink of a return to the second tier.
Prior to 2018/19, Bolton had played just one season in the third tier in the previous 25 years, however, a tumultuous time off the pitch saw them fall as far as League Two in 2020/21.
As for Stockport, victory on Sunday would see them reach the second tier of English football for the first time since 2001/02. They were playing their football in the National League North as recently as 2019 but after securing a return to the football league three seasons ago, haven't looked back.
