Billy Loughnane booked rides on Saturday at Newmarket

Champion jockey hopeful Billy Loughnane is at Newmarket for seven rides on Saturday.

The 20-year-old pilot is enjoying the season of his life and is out in front in the race to be crowned champion jockey, leading the way from five-time winner Oisin Murphy.

On top of his impressive tally of winners, Loughnane has also performed on the biggest days throughout the course of the year, landing four Group 1 successes, including Classic victory in the 2,000 Guineas onboard the recently-retired Bow Echo.

We take a look at his chances at HQ on Saturday...

Horse Racing

13:35 - Bin Jahwar

Loughnane has a decent chance of opening his account at the first time of asking aboard 4/7 shot Bin Jahwar in the opener.

The unraced Godolphin colt has just two rivals to see off on the July Course and is nicely bred - by Ghaiyyath and out of Group 1-placed mare Tasaday.

14:10 - Strike

Strike (5/1) has been a consistent performer throughout his 44-race career and could be capable of racking up back-to-back wins from a mark of 70.

He scrambled home to win by a short-head at Newbury last time out to end a near two-year run without success, but has reached a career-high mark of 77 in his earlier years. Fast ground and six furlongs should bring out the best in him.

14:43 - Alma Latina

Ralph Beckett sends Alma Latina to Newmarket in search of her second win and at 11/4, she has leading claims in this contest.

Owned and bred by Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe-winning owner Kirsten Rausing, she looked progressive until her latest start where she finished last of three in a Sandown handicap. Loughnane gets onboard for the first time and if she returns to the form she showed when winning at Pontefract, then she might have a say in the finish.

15:13 - Eabha

Hat-trick seeking Eabha (2/1) is up next, bidding for consecutive wins over course and distance. It was only last week when the son of Space Blues upset a Godolphin favourite to defy a mark of 81 and he has been nudged up by 5lb for that.

Trainer Eve Johnson-Houghton saddled two winners from two runners at that meeting and she will be hoping for further success one week on.

15:50 - Del Corso

Del Corso (4/7) is Loughnane's second odds-on favourite of the day and another seeking a hat-trick of wins.

A brace of handicap victories at Nottingham could not have arrived in easier style and a 5lb increase in his official rating may not stop him from going in again.

16:25 - Lovers Leap

Loughnane finished third on Lovers Leap (9/4) in a fillies handicap at York when she was last seen and she shaped as if the extra furlong she will encounter at the weekend would bring about some improvement.

Consecutive defeats have seen her drop to a career-low mark of 69 and, with just four to beat home, it could be her day.

17:00 - Mister Mojito

Loughnane rounds off his day at Newmarket with another decent ride in the form of 2/1 favourite Mister Mojito.

Another that arrives here off the back of a win, he might just be coming back to his best form, posting the second-highest RPR of his career when beating Rogue Dynasty at Lingfield earlier this month.
