Aston Villa agree €55m deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain starlet Ibrahim Mbaye

Aston Villa have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to sign Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth €55million.

Mbaye is considered to be among the brightest young talents in European football after emerging from PSG's academy ranks and making his senior debut in 2024.

The precocious winger, who has made 42 appearances in all competitions under Luis Enrique in the French capital, was linked with a move to Liverpool earlier this month.

However, it's Aston Villa who are set to land the 18-year-old as they look to bolster Unai Emery's attacking options.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the relationship between Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was vital in sealing the deal which will see Mbaye trade the Parc des Princes for Villa Park.

Premier League

Mbaye holds the record for the youngest player to start a competitive fixture for Paris Saint-Germain when he featured against Le Havre on the opening weekend of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season.

He scored three goals and provided two assists in 31 matches in all competitions in the previous campaign, with his versatility proving handy for Enrique as he operated off both the right and left flank.

On top of his exploits with PSG, Mbaye's fledgling career has also witnessed him emerging as a household name in the Senegal national team.

The former France youth international switched allegiance last year and after making his international debut in November 2025, Mbaye represented Senegal at the African Cup of Nations before starting three of their four matches at the 2026 World Cup.

Mbaye's arrival will significantly enhance Emery's wide areas. John McGinn played off the right and academy graduate George Hemmings off the left in Villa's 4-0 Premier League defeat to Brighton at the weekend, with Alejandro Garnacho and Alysson the alternatives from the bench.

It's been a hectic summer transfer window at Villa Park. The club have already made eight additions, but there have been a catalogue of high-profile departures, including Morgan Rogers and Ezri Konsa. Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez, two stalwarts of the Emery era in B6, are also on the verge of leaving.
