The 2011/12 campaign was the first season for Serie A giants under the stewardship of Luis Enrique.
His appointment represented the first time that he had been handed the reins of a permanent manager's role in one of Europe's big leagues after he took over the Stadio Olimpico hotseat from Vincenzo Montella.
Whilst he ultimately went on to enjoy paramount success with heavyweights Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, he endured difficulties in improving the fortunes of a Roma side who ended the previous campaign in sixth position.
During his solitary campaign in the Italian capital, he won 17 of his 42 matches; leading the club to a disappointing seventh place, whilst also being dumped out of the Europa League in the playoff round and Coppa Italia in the last eight.
Despite possessing a star-studded squad that included the likes of former Barcelona sensation Bojan Krkic, Daniele De Rossi and Franceso Totti, Enrique just couldn't get things to click into gear.
It was in fact the previously mentioned Spanish maestro Bojan who went on to make the most appearances for the club that season, notching seven goals in his 37 appearances in all competitions.
De Rossi, Miralem Pjanic and top goalscorer Dani Osvaldo were all frequent appearance makers across the 2011/12 campaign too.
