Arsenal set for transfer windfall amidst Folarin Balogun speculation

Arsenal may be in line to receive a transfer windfall following speculation around Folarin Balogun's future.

The Monaco striker is being strongly linked with a move to Everton, who will look to replace Beto should the forward move back to Serie A to join Fiorentina.

Balogun was sold by Arsenal to Monaco three years ago for €30m potentially rising to €40m, but the Gunners did insert a 17.5% sell-on clause, entitling them to a decent chunk of any future transfer fee.

Premier League

Balogun enjoyed his best season in the principality last term, notching 13 Ligue 1 goals and hitting a rich vein of form in the second half of the campaign, scoring in seven straight league games.

Reports suggest Everton may need to pay £40m to acquire the services of Balogun, who scored three times at the World Cup for the USA. Should Everton fork out such a fee, Arsenal would be entitled to £7m of it.

It's been an extremely expensive few years in North London, and Arsenal are now looking to bring cash back into the club. Across the last six years, the Gunners have spent an average of nearly £200m per season, recouping just £40m across that period, though that average will be bumped up slightly when Gabriel Martinelli's exit is confirmed.
