Former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey has called time on his footballing career.
Ramsey enjoyed a glittering 20-year spell as a professional that saw him lift eight trophies as well as reach a European Championship semi-final with Wales.
In a short statement announcing his retirement on social media, the 35-year-old described representing his country as a 'privilege', thanking the Red Wall for their support across the 86 caps he won for the Dragons.
Whilst he will be associated mainly with Arsenal, Ramsey also took his club career to Italy, France, Scotland and Mexico where he lifted domestic honours with both Juventus and Rangers.
From very early on his career, it was obvious that Ramsey was destined for the very top when he became the youngest-ever player to represent boyhood club Cardiff at just 16 years and 124 days old.
The Welsh side turned down a £1m bid from Premier League side Everton before accepting an increased £4.8m offer from Arsenal.
Including loan spells back at Cardiff and Nottingham Forest, the midfielder would spend more than a decade at the Emirates and become a regular fixture in their XI.
Although his career was hampered by several injury issues, Ramsey played more than 250 times for the Gunners, lifting the FA Cup on three occasions and reaching the final of both the Europa League and EFL Cup.
Even given all he achieved at club level, it is probably for Wales where Ramsey produced his absolute best.
He was a key part of the famous side that reached the semi-final of the 2016 European Championship - sporting his now iconic bleached blond hair - Ramsey ended the tournament as the joint-top assister alongside Belgium's Eden Hazard.
"This has not been an easy decision to make. After a lot of consideration, I have decided to retire from football," Ramsey wrote in a statement posted on X.
"Firstly, I want to start with Wales. It has been my privilege to wear the Welsh shirt and experience so many incredible moments in it. It would not have been possible without the incredible input of all the managers I have played under and all the staff who have helped me in many ways."
"To the Red Wall. You have been there through thck and thin! You have been there through the highs and lows, and you have been an essential and indispensable part of our success.
"I can't thank you enough. We've been through everything together and it's been an honour to represent you. Diolch."
