After the final major of the year concluded in dramatic fashion, with Ryan Fox making a birdie on the 18th at Royal Birkdale, the PGA Tour heads to Blaine, Minnesota for the 3M Open.
A fairly standard summer event on the PGA Tour, sandwiched between majors, Signature Events and the FedExCup play-offs, the 3M Open tends not to attract the strongest field.
But world number one Scottie Scheffler adds plenty of gravitas to the tournament this week as he makes his maiden outing to TPC Twin Cities.
The event has been won by a number of longshots over the years, including Jhonattan Vegas, Lee Hodges, Cameron Champ, Michael Thompson and Matthew Wolff, with only defending champion Kurt Kitayama (97th) and Tony Finau (14th) ranking in the OWGR top 100 since 2019.
As such, the 3M Open is a great event for those outside the FedExCup bubble to book their place at the FedEx St Jude later in the year, even if Scheffler will take some beating.
Kitayama is second favourite as he looks to go back to back, while Maverick McNealy, Hideki Matsuyama and Keith Mitchell make up the top five in the betting.
