2026/27 Premier League season previews for all 20 clubs

After the excitement of the World Cup, the countdown is on to the 2026/27 Premier League season.

Ipswich and Hull City make their returns to the top flight, while Coventry prepare for Premier League football for the first time since 2000/01.

At the other end of the table, Arsenal make a first Premier League title defence in more than 20 years, while Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea embark on life under new managers.

Premier League

Arsenal

After winning the title for the first time since their 'Invincible' 2003/04 season, Arsenal go into the Premier League campaign with a target on their back as Mikel Arteta looks to steer the Gunners to back-to-back crowns.

Aston Villa

A remarkable season in which they not only won the Europa League but finished in the Premier League top four sets up an exciting campaign for Aston Villa, though their financial issues sees their squad weakened from last term.

Bournemouth

Despite losing Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth can look forward to a first season of European football, having qualified for the Europa League last term.

Brentford

An expectation-defying season for Brentford saw them steer well clear of relegation, with Keith Andrews' side narrowly missing out on European qualification on the final day of the season, but providing a promising platform to build from.

Brighton

An excellent second half of the season saw Brighton climb the table to earn a place in Europe for the second time in their history, as they now look to build on an impressive 2025/26 season.

Chelsea

After a turbulent few years, Chelsea will hope that Xabi Alonso will stick around for the long term, and with no European distraction, will Chelsea mount a title challenge?

Coventry City

Ending a 25-year absence from the top-flight, Coventry won the Championship with ease; their job is now to ensure they don't fall straight back down.

Crystal Palace

With Oliver Glasner no longer at the helm, how will Crystal Palace fare? The Eagles' Conference League win booked them an overdue place in the Europa League with Pierre Sage now at the helm.

Everton

With the ship steadied at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, can David Moyes push the Toffees up the table after consecutive 13th-place finishes?

Fulham

The Marco Silva era comes to an end at Craven Cottage, with Alvaro Arbeloa tasked with continuing the Portuguese's excellent work.

Hull City

Widely backed for Championship relegation last season, Sergej Jakirovic steered Hull City to a miraculous promotion, with his new target keeping the Tigers in the top flight.

Ipswich Town

The 2026/27 season will be Ipswich Town's fifth straight campaign in a new division after last season's promotion, though they now begin life under Gary O'Neil following Kieran McKenna's departure.

Leeds United

Expected to struggle by many last season, Leeds United defied expectations and now prepare for a second consecutive season in the top flight under Daniel Farke.

Liverpool

A hugely challenging season eventually resulted in the departure of Arne Slot, with Andoni Iraola stepping into the Anfield hotseat with Liverpool expected to compete for the title once again.

Manchester City

The departure of Pep Guardiola really does mark the end of an era, with protege Enzo Maresca tasked with restoring Manchester City to the summit of English football.

Manchester United

The miserable tenure of Ruben Amorim came to an end halfway through last season, with Michael Carrick's impressive work as interim boss seeing the former Red Devils given a the job on a permanent basis.

Newcastle United

A thoroughly disappointing season sees Newcastle out of Europe once again, while financial restraints leave their squad with a number of concerning holes.

Nottingham Forest

After qualifying for Europe in the 2024/25 season, Nottingham Forest enjoyed a run to the Europa League semi-finals last season, despite getting through four 'permanent' managers, with Oliver Glasner hoping to last slightly longer than his predecessors.

Sunderland

Last season's biggest overachievers, Sunderland qualified for the Europa League and will now look to juggle their European and domestic commitments.

Tottenham

After two consecutive 17th-place finishes, Roberto De Zerbi is charged with getting Tottenham back into the UEFA Champions League.
