2026 Breeders' Cup Turf betting odds, runners & preview

Just shy of £2m will head the way of the winner of Saturday's Breeders' Cup Turf.

Alongside the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and King George, this is one of the most important mile-and-a-half races ran anywhere in the world, regularly bringing together the best from the UK, US, Ireland and France have to offer.

Europe have dominated the contest in recent years; Auguste Rodin, Tarnawa, Enable and Highland Reel all victorious within the last decade.

Ethical Diamond sprang somewhat of a shock when he passed the post in front last season, but he returns bidding to prove that his one-and-a-quarter-length success wasn't just a fluke. Willie Mullins is known more so for his dominance over Jumps, however, he has proven over and over again that he can be just as effective on the level. While the race did somewhat fall into his lap 12 months ago, it would be foolish to completely write off back-to-back successes.

A total of seven wins makes Aidan O'Brien the most successful trainer in the race's history and he saddles two leading contenders this time around. Diamond Necklace and Benvenuto Cellini both took their chance in the Arc last time out, the former emerging with more credit. The daughter of St Mark's Basilica defied a unfavourable draw to finish third behind Daryz in the Longchamp showpiece.

The draw has played it's hand again, with Diamond Necklace posted out in 12, fairing far worse than Benvenuto Cellini who will jump from two.

Splitting Daryz and Diamond Necklace in the Arc was Bay City Roller. George Scott is enjoying a fantastic season and his stable star has been a model of consistency. His wide-margin Coronation Cup success came on slow ground, but two efforts and Longchamp and Ascot have come on rattling quick surfaces.

Few would have had Tiffany arriving here as a live contender at the start of the year, although few can argue that she is not deserving of her place following victory over course and distance last time out. Sir Mark Prescott's mare has really gone up a gear this season and had the aforementioned Ethical Diamond in her rear view mirror when scoring here last month.
